In the past few weeks we have been working intensively on the notification system in O&O Syspectr. We have paid particular attention to the feedback from our users in this regard who have kindly submitted requests for changes and improvements. These will be implemented into the new system which will be available from the 1st April, 2014.
Easier selection of notifications
Selecting the notifications that you want to receive per e-mail is now much simpler. Users can now choose per module whether they want to be notified of problems alone or whether they want to be notified of warnings and information. With multiple user accounts, these settings can even be defined by individual users. In addition, all notifications are now saved in the computer’s history log, so that events can be seen and analyzed independent of e-mail notifications too.
Problems automatically marked as resolved
Brand new is the automatic resolution of problems. An example: a user deactivates the firewall. The administrator immediately receives a notification that indicates an unresolved problem. Should the user reactivate the firewall, the admin will then receive a notification informing him or her that the problem has been resolved. The event is also marked as resolved in the computer history log, leaving the admin free to focus on those problems that are still outstanding.
All problems and warnings can also of course be marked as read and resolved manually. These new functions place a powerful tool for the quick and efficient execution of security-relevant jobs at a user’s fingertips.
Improved event descriptions in e-mails
We have also revamped the way events are described and displayed in e-mails so that the user can immediately see the most important information and react accordingly. Numerous shortcuts enable an immediate analysis of the event in the web application which substantially eases usage on mobile devices.
